Wylde Hearth Copper Jewellery

from £46.00

These stunning organic pieces of jewellery have been made by Anna Boulger in Devon, using an incredible process called Electroforming.

‘All the objects I use in my work are found mostly in and around Devon. The found object is then coated in a conductive paint and suspended in a bath of copper sulphite solution. The object is attached to a hanging wire and a negative charge, while a copper anode is submerged and connected to a positive charge. When electricity is moved through the circuit the copper from the anode transfers to the conductive paint, coating the object in layers of copper.’

Anna has been creating jewellery for the past 5 years, mainly working in bone, wood and natural textiles. As a Forest School Leader and Indigenous Skills teacher her work is rooted in nature and the landscape around her beloved Devon. The transition to Copper and electroforming came when she was seeking a process to strengthen certain natural materials to use in her jewellery making. She has been working with this process now for two years, she particularly enjoys how copper behaves like a living substance, changing depending on it’s environment and surrounding influences and continues to be inspired by the natural beauty of the world around her.
